Variants:
The Porsche 718 is available in Cayman, Boxster, Cayman Style Edition, Boxster Style Edition, Cayman GTS 4.0, Boxster GTS 4.0, Cayman GT4, Spyder, and Cayman GT4 RS.

Engine and Transmission: 
For 718 gets two brand new engines – a 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre four-cylinder engines. Porsche has also retained the signature boxer layout of the engines. The 2.0-litre 295bhp power and 380Nm torque engine will power the Boxster and the Cayman, while the ‘S’ versions will feature the 345bhp, 420Nm torque 2.5-litre mill.

Exterior:
The front bumper has been tweaked, and the three-part air dam looks sporty with the blacked-out mesh grille and the LED daytime running lamps. The headlamps get the optional quad LED setup and looks menacing. While the profile is the same, the tail has got a complete makeover. The strip connecting the two LED tail lamps separates the rear bumper from the fender and looks dapper.

Interior:
On the inside, it gets a stylish Panamera-like layout with an integrated touch-screen display for the infotainment system. The classic three-spoke steering wheel gets paddle shifters for the automatic transmission.

Safety and features: 
It gets a three-round ascending centre console, a sports steering wheel, instrument cluster with rev counters. Besides this, it also gets a lightweight stainless steel exhaust system with a rear silencer and two clear tailpipes. What’s more, it gets Dynamic Light System Plus, a headlight cleaning system, and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a rear differential lock.

Porsche 718 Verdict

The Porsche 718 is the Boxster’s replacement and now the cheapest car in Porsche’s line-up. Porsche owners and enthusiasts have not really liked the downsizing from the naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine to a flat-four turbocharged motor. Nonetheless, the 718 lives up to Porsche’s genes by offering a blistering performance and precise handling. A well-rounded package.
